If there’s something that will get me out of the house with my camera it’s the promise of a frozen body of water. That alone is always a draw for me. And because it has to be cold it’s also a moment of minor insanity: going out in subzero temperatures just to photograph some ice. But that’s not all there is to see or experience. All around you on a sunny day with heavy snow coverage means that light is everywhere. It’s bouncing all over the place and as the sun falls, so does its own colors.
Most of these images have a fair amount of editing but the image of the Charles River is mostly untouched, as it pertains to color and filters. Mainly because it was kind of confusing trying to interpret the color of the water. But that’s the sun doing its thing on its way out.
I get fomo when it comes to light. In fact I was a bit downtrodden because I was trying to get out of the house before the sun totally hid away. I was a bit too late but it was still pretty nice out.
